Bad Breath: Which Foods Help?

Home | Blog Post | Page 16

Having bad breath can be embarrassing. However, did you know there are a number of solutions you can try? For instance, you probably know that brushing and flossing will help you keep your breath fresh. Similarly, if you don’t have your toothbrush with you, there are actually certain foods that can help keep your teeth strong.

Similarly, you may know that eating certain types of food can cause bad breath. In fact, when you eat, food particles are left on your teeth—which could cause bad breath. Fortunately, saliva carries these food particles and bad bacteria away. Crunchy foods, like apples and celery, also promote saliva production. Sugarless gum will also help your saliva flow and help you cover bad breath.

There are other foods that can freshen your breath, including, parsley, lemons, and cranberries. Dairy products can also help your teeth as well as your breath. You see, most dairy products contain high amounts of calcium which help to remineralize your teeth. Milk also negates acids that can cause bad breath.

If you would like to learn more about foods that can help with bad breath in [city], [state], we can assist you. Our dentist, Dr. [doctor_name], and our team will answer any questions or concerns you may have. To schedule an appointment, please contact [practice_name] at [phone]. Through the course of your routine adjustment sessions with your [practice_name] orthodontist, your braces have given you a perfect smile. Now they can now be removed and you can show your new smile to the world!

However, there will still be a modest amount of residual tension in the periodontal ligaments anchoring your teeth in the sockets. If this tension is not addressed and mitigated in some way, your teeth will slip out of their new position in a process known as relapse. To this end, you will need to use a retainer for a while to help hold your teeth in position long enough for the residual tension to subside.

If you only needed braces to provide a small amount of realignment for your teeth, your orthodontist might recommend a clear plastic retainer. This style of the retainer is very similar to aligner trays like Invisalign®. The clear plastic material makes it hard for the casual observer to even notice you’re wearing it.

Most people need to use a retainer for about the same amount of time they needed to have braces. By keeping your new clear plastic retainer clean and wearing it at the necessary times, you can keep the total duration of time you need to use it to the bare minimum.

While you are wearing your clear plastic retainer you can drink normally. When eating, you will need to take the retainer out. When you’re not wearing it, you should keep it in the case provided, rather than improvise with something like a plastic bag or napkin.

When you take your clear plastic retainer out, you should rinse it under running water to remove lingering food particles and plaque. Each night you can refresh it by soaking it in a mixture of half cold water and half antiseptic mouthwash. If you notice a little plaque buildup, you should lightly brush the retainer with a soft toothbrush and nonabrasive toothpaste. Try to avoid using abrasive toothpaste as this could dull the plastic material and make it more noticeable when you’re wearing it.

If you have any questions about how to properly take care of your clear plastic retainer, you can always call [practice_name]’s clinic in [city], [state] at [phone] to ask a question.

Third molars, commonly known as wisdom teeth are an evolutionary remnant from a time in human evolution when our ancient ancestors survived on a diet of roots and hard foods. In modern times wisdom teeth have become little more than a nuisance, and are capable of causing significant complications to your oral health.

Dr. [doctor_name] often recommends having your wisdom teeth removed at some point after all of your permanent molars have come in.

The average person has four wisdom teeth, but it is not unheard of someone to have as many as six or no wisdom teeth at all!

Wisdom teeth often start to emerge from the gums during late adolescence. Early symptoms often include a deep ache in the gums or rear of the jaw. Some people complain of tension and pressure in the jaw muscles as well. An impacted wisdom tooth, trapped in the gums can cause to pain, infection and potentially damage their existing molars.

Even if one of your wisdom teeth manages to emerge from your gums without complications, it will require regular brushing and flossing to prevent cavities. Emergent wisdom teeth are often challenging to clean, leading to significant complications further on down the road.

If you are considering having your wisdom teeth removed, you should call Dr. [doctor_name]’s office in [city], [state] at [phone] to schedule an appointment.
